Connor Kent, better known to the world as Superman's clone Superboy, was seriously injured in battle against the forces of Darkseid. His injuries were so extensive that the only way to save him was at the cellular level. With Superman otherwise occupied with trying to defeat Darkseid the Teen Titans and Star Labs were left with the task of saving the Boy of Steel. Desperately in need of Kryptonian DNA Kid Flash's quick thinking came up with a strand of blond hair Supergirl had left in a hair brush in her last visit to Titans Tower. Adding the DNA to the Nutreno bath they were using to treat Superboy they were able to stabilize his condition. Soon it became apparent that the life saving procedure had some serious side affects. In using Supergirl's DNA they had caused Superboy's chromosomes to switch to XX. Reversing it would require Superboy having to be near death again and even then they couldn't be sure that it would restore him to his old male safe. It was difficult for Connor, now Connie, and his family and friends to adjust to his change. Connie found that he was now attracted to men ending his romantic relationship with Wonder Girl, although they still managed to stay friends as she was helping Connie get used to his new body. He found himself checking out the male members of his team and those same members were trying not to let on that they were turned on by thier once male friend. By far though he was having the hardest time with the other members of the Super family. Supergirl was not thrilled with having to share her name and Superman was very disapproving of Connie's choice of uniform.
