Halloween Birthday

Clara sat on the bus, five stops away from home. The feeling that she was being watched was buzzing in the back of her head but she had just worked a double shift at the restaurant and chalked it up to just being tired. Her night wasn't going to get any easier as she had a paper she needed to polish up before for her economy class in the morning. Clara was resigned to the hard work, ever since she could remember life was a struggle. Having grown up in a orphanage she had no illusions about the troubles of life. She had tried looking up records to track down her parents but ran in to nothing but dead ends. She held on to a fantasy that she would find her real parents and move in with them to live happily ever after. Sure she turned twenty one today, Halloween, but she would jump at that life in a heartbeat. If Clara knew the truth she would be horrified. Her parents were long dead, killed by a satanic cult on the night of her birth. They had been hijacked on the way to the hospital. taken to a secret location and sacrificed to the demon they worshiped. This offering was to seal Clara's fate as it's vessel on earth when the right time came. The cult's plan was to raise her in the ways of evil but they severely underestimated the abilities of the state police. A few days after the discovery of the crime scene the authorities had tracked down the cult arresting twenty members and killing three during the rescue.  Now Clara was working hard to support herself and going to school to try and give herself a shot at a better future. Little did she know that at the stroke of midnight all of that would be pointless as her life would suddenly get much easier, seemingly by magic. Unfortunately for Clara, she would not be the one living it.
